A stem cell trial in the United Kingdom has just received funding to initiate a phase II trial. This study will treat relapsing-remitting patients with autologous, mesenchymal stem cells administered intravenously. This study is similar to the MSRCNY stem cell proposal, except that, in the MSRCNY planned trial, we will be using neural progenitor cells which are derived from mesenchymal stem cells  and the cells would be administered intrathecally (directly into the spinal fluid). We are saddened to report that Amber Peskin, a valued nurse here for over three years, will be leaving the practice in mid-August. As some of you know, Amber is a new mom and wanted to relocate back to her hometown of New Orleans to be closer to her family. We all wish Amber the best and will miss her very much.

ECTRIMS is the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis and this year’s meeting will be in Amsterdam in October.
